What Is Cast Stone?
Cast Stone has many names. Cultured stone, manufacturerd stone, man-made stone, simulated stone, and some like to call it "lick and stick".
Legacy Stone Product's are made with a aggregate, concrete mix. Thus making it stronger and designed for the Colorado climate. All of our stone is molded from actual real stone, and molded in-house. This gives Legacy Stone Products much more definition, with many shadow lines and character. Each stone has hand flashed color that is integrated into the stone in the manufacturing process. Color is never painted on, it is vibrated into the face of the stones.
Cast Stone is about one-half the price of real stone installed, and close to the price of brick. Our cast stone can give the elegance of natural stone at a fraction of the cost, and still give the solid masonry qualities that last the life of the home. Our stone is approximately one-fourth the weight of real stone which enables it to be installed quicker and handled more easily.
With the growing concern of energy conservation, and the building of more passive solar home, cast stone has been readily accepted as an attractive and cost efficient way to help retain the sun's heat through storing it in thermal mass on the interior of homes built in this newer design. The concept of Thermal-Mass is an old one dating back to early caveman times when rocks would be heated by the fire to absorb the heat, and then put into the bed at night to release the stored-up heat.
